Certaines activit\u00e9s industrielles perdurent, d\u2019autres sites sont reconvertis ou restent en friche. Le port de Roquefort f\u00fbt un lieu cl\u00e9 dans l\u2019acheminement des marchandises qui transitent depuis les vall\u00e9es pyr\u00e9n\u00e9ennes jusqu\u2019\u00e0 Toulouse. Jusqu\u2019au XIXe si\u00e8cle., le paysage est caract\u00e9ris\u00e9 par une occupation essentiellement agricole autour des deux villages. Le parcellaire agricole est remembr\u00e9 en surfaces cultiv\u00e9es plus grandes et plus adapt\u00e9es au travail m\u00e9canique de la terre. Les dynamiques urbaines se d\u00e9ploient sur la plaine de la Garonne. Historiquement, les marchandises (bois, glace, pierres\u2026), issues pour la plupart des Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es, \u00e9taient ici transbord\u00e9es des radeaux sur des gabarres, les radeaux \u00e9tant plus adapt\u00e9s au r\u00e9gime torrentiel du fleuve, en amont de Caz\u00e8res. La plupart des marchandises \u00e9taient achemin\u00e9es jusqu\u2019\u00e0 Toulouse (port Garaud), d\u2019autres jusqu\u2019\u00e0 Bordeaux. Certains anciens Caz\u00e9riens consid\u00e8rent d\u2019ailleurs la Garonne comme \u201cmorte\u201d, sans courant ni fluctuation comme auparavant.
